The Project Finance SubCommittee of the SWAT Renewable Transmission Task Force (RTTF) was created to investigate and recommend methods for financing renewable transmission projects in the state of Arizona.

The subcommittee coordinates its efforts with the ARRTIS Subcommittee and its identification of transmission corridors and projects necessary to interconnect renewable energy projects with the high voltage grid.

The Project Finance Subcommittee’s work will support the utilities’ planned workshops during April 2009 for gathering stakeholder input, thereby refining the Project Finance Subcommittee’s findings to the RTTF by late summer of this year.

The Subcommittee’s final report in September 2009 will include recommendations on cost and benefit allocation policy for stakeholders, which provide a regulatory basis for the financing of transmission infrastructure necessary to sensible development of Arizona’s renewable energy resources.

The subcommittee’s work will provide responsive compliance with the Fifth Biennial Transmission Assessment and Arizona Corporation Commission Order No. 70635.
