WestConnect Regional Transmission Service with an hourly non-firm product began July 1, 2009, pursuant to an affirmative FERC decision to allow the experimental service for a two-year period.
WestConnect Regional Transmission Service is overseen by the Pricing Management Committee which has determined that service levels have not been high enough – primarily because of regional economic conditions – to adequately assess whether the individual transmission service providers are negatively impacted by offering the regional service. As a result, the Pricing Management Committee will file a new petition at FERC requesting a two-year extension of the authorization for regional service until June 30, 2013. The FERC petition is currently scheduled for filing by March 1, 2011.
The Pricing Management Committee is also developing a daily non-firm transmission service product to add to the existing hourly non-firm service offered under the Regional Tariff. That service will be added as soon as possible after the July 1, 2011 extension of the regional service.
